Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) is an angry young man in a small village, Mandwa. He is taught by his principled father (Chetan Pandit) about the path of fire — Agneepath. But he leaves the village after evil drug dealer Kancha (Sanjay Dutt) hangs his father to death.
Vijay leaves for Mumbai with his pregnant mother (Zarina Wahab) and has only one mission in life — to come back to Mandwa and bring back the glory of his father’s name.
Vijay joins the team of gang lord Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor) in Mumbai, who becomes his Godfather. He makes necessary preparation to take revenge upon Kancha. His best friend Kaali (Priyanka Chopra) stands by him at every moment in his life. He returns to his village after 15 years.
Vijay takes up crime himself to become successful and finally meets with those people who killed his father. What happens next will form an interesting portion of the film.
Agneepath is mainly the powerful journey of Vijay, who is on a mission.
Hrithik Roshan has given superb performance. He has not tried to copy Amitabh Bachchan from the original. He has his own distinct way of portraying his role.
Priyanka Chopra has less scope in the movie. She is brilliant in her small but pivotal role which she has used to impress the audience.
Sanjay Dutt seemingly looks more powerful. His act as Kancha was anticipated to give ‘A’ performance and he lives up to the hype. Rishi Kapoor impresses with his flawless power-packed performance. Zarina Wahab, Om Puri and others are also good in their respective roles.
Cinematography by Ravi K Chandran and Kiran Deohans is remarkable.
Ajay-Atul’s music is the main highlight. The duo’s compositions like Deva Shree Ganesha and Chikni Chameli are picks of the lot. Piyush Mishra’s dialogue is also a plus point for the film.
Director Karan Malhotra succeeds in extracting inspiring performances from the impressive cast. He too has bestowed the new version with a fresh texture. HATS OFF… KARAN, WELL DONE.
The stellar performances of Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt are the major highlights of the film.
Another highlight of ‘Agneepath’ is the item song- Katrina Kaif’s ‘Chikni chameli’. The actress’ fast, Maharashtrian dance moves have impressed one and all.
AGNEEPATH has the fire … a definite winner!
